An Idol is an Idol is an Idol

A handsome idol on the stage

Swooning girls of any age

He croons and sways to the beats

Exciting teens in their seats

In centuries past, Idols of gold

Often mentioned in a Testament Old

A sin to worship all that’s fake

This wrongful praise did please the snake

In this modern day and age

The many idols we engage

We worship all material things

We crave excess with no attached strings

Idols can be gold, silver or bronze

But all are insignificant pawns

When all that matters are what we need

Then we really must begin to heed

The First Commandment said it best

Love the Lord Your God and ditch the rest.
