Monotony of Life

We go through the motions every hour, every day

Wake up, have breakfast, and be on our way

To the office or outdoors, wherever work may be.

The tasks never change, boredom is the key

We dream of better futures, a land far and free

Visions of nature that the mind’s eye can see

Where chains of paid slavery are broken and gone

And the best of the day begins at the light of first dawn

We go through the motions every hour, every day

Just to earn the meager rations that is our pay

Which we have to share with leaders with all their greed

Who don’t give a damn about their people in need.

The monotony of Life shows itself in our work

By switching our minds off, we won’t go berserk

But there-in lies the problem, closed minds cannot see

When our bodies are buried in our work, our souls can’t be free

It hinders us from living in the here and in the now

We need to wake our minds up, someway, somehow.

Only then can we begin to escape life’s monotony

Open our minds, free our souls and rethink our philosophy.

We go through the motions every hour, every day

But we can escape this, and we will find a way.
