No Santa

As the 6 year old walked through the house holding her elderly neighbour’s hand, she took in the scene before her; her father at the table, face down in his food, her older brother lying half on, half off the couch, and by the kitchen sink, her mother was sprawled on the floor.
“So I guess it’s true, there is no such thing as Santa” the young girl sadly says.
The neighbour replied, “why do you say that?”
The young girl looked up at her neighbour, “last night, when I left the carrots out for the reindeer?”
“Yes?”
She dropped her gaze to look back at her family members still all unconcious, “I spiked the carrots”
