Blind Dog’s Bluff

It is SO much fun playing hide and seek with a dog who’s eyesight is poor.

I was standing in the middle of the loungeroom watching where Cleo was going as she was doing her normal vacuum routine.  (Cleo is a natural born vacuum, always with nose to ground looking for something to suck up, so naturally I have to keep an eye on her constantly to make sure she doesn’t vacuum up stuff she shouldn’t.  Just half an hour prior, I had to get her nose out of the rubbish bag and retrieve all the rubbish to put back in the bag before placing it on the kitchen counter out of her reach.)

So when Cleo decided she better checked on what I was doing, she followed the natural route back and realised I wasn’t sitting at the computer so she decided to check the kitchen and laundry.  Whilst she did that, I ducked into the spare room and turned out the light.

When Cleo couldn’t find me in the kitchen and laundry, she then raced back to the toilet to see if I was there and then to the bedroom.

The conversation between Cleo and Milly (who had been sitting on my new bed this whole time) must have went something like this:

Cleo:  I can’t find mummy

Milly (hopping off the bed): What do you mean you can’t find mummy?  I just saw her run in here, and she led Cleo to  my location where I was hiding.

Seriously!  It kind of takes the fun out of the game when Milly acts like Cleo’s guide dog, but in saying that, it’s really sweet to see that Milly and Goldie (one of my cats) always helps Cleo find things (namely me) when she’s looking but can’t find me.

I play hide and seek because it keeps Cleo active.  She’s not laying around feeling sorry for herself when she’s searching for me, and it’s a great way for her to do laps around the home… at least till the others step in and help. lol
