Like a sore thumb

Because I don’t have perfect teeth

Many don’t see the soul beneath

So I always try not to smile

But I forget once in a while

Then I stick out like a sore thumb

And people treat me like I’m dumb

Because I have facial hair

That won’t go away, even with Nair

I try not to think of how I look

And bury my face in a book

But I still stick out like a sore thumb

And people treat me like I’m dumb

Because my torso is more round than straight

And I carry more than normal weight

I waddle around instead of walk

And very young kids often gawk

And I still stick out like a sore thumb

So people treat me like I’m dumb

Because I have elephant legs

Not skinny little human pegs

And because my feet are buried beneath

At least they take stares away from my teeth

And I still stick out like a sore thumb

And people treat me like I’m dumb

I now accept myself as is

Even when people wish to quiz

Why I look the way I do

I want to ask, “Why do you?”

So I stick out like a sore thumb

But I  don’t care if people think I’m dumb

Because I know the true soul in me

And I don’t care if no one else can see.
