Making a Difference

If I could, I’d make a change, if I had the power within me

I’d yell on mountain tops and plead the people of this world to see

If I could, I’d open up my home to every stray out there

To cats and dogs, orphaned children and the homeless everywhere

People are too quick to judge and wipe unpleasantness from their eyes

The unwanted all try to survive while the better-off ignore their cries

Many will cruelly hunt for fashion, souvenirs and fun

The newest sport is canned hunting, where animals can’t even run

If I could, I’d make a change, if I had the power within me

I’d shake abusers and try to make them wise up and see

Hitting and bashing is not ideal to treat anyone they love

It’s not the way shown to us by the great power above

If I could, I’d open up my home to every victim out there

I’d console them and comfort them and of all my things I’d share

On this world for every problem, zero tolerance is what’s needed

Perhaps if we opened our heart, all suffering can be weeded

If I could, I’d make a change, if I had the power within me.

This is my hope and my prayer and ONE day I’ll make the world see.
