I’m not that hungry

Whining sound to my left.  I look down and Cleo’s giving me a sad face.

“You want toilet Cleo?”

Still sad face

*Sigh* “Ok, I’ll let you out.” I walk to the back door and turn around.  Cleo’s not there.  She followed me in the loungeroom, and through the kitchen.. where’d she go?

I peek around the laundry door and see Cleo looking at all the empty bowls in the kitchen.

“Well if you’re hungry, why don’t you go eat some dog biscuits that’s outside the back door?”

Cleo heads out the back door, looks around at the yard, turns around and comes back in.

“Forgot what you were going out there for?”  I’m reminded of the elderly that believe in the hereafter, where they go into the room, then forget what they’re ‘here after’.

The following is conversation translated from body language:

“So why didn’t you eat the biscuits outside the back door?”

Cleo: Not that hungry

As I make my coffee, Cleo sits down to watch me.

“What about the bone in the loungeroom?”

Cleo doesn’t hear me (well she is going deaf) and studies all the empty bowls on the kitchen floor.. I really should wash up… dissatisfied, she then heads out to the loungeroom and examines the surrounds of the cat crate carefully/ hoping to find a stray cat biscuit.

As I finish making my coffee, Cleo has moved on to examining the rest of the carpet for any signs of food.  I enter the loungeroom carrying my coffee and with my spare hand, I swoop Cleo up and dump her down next to the bone that’s been sitting next to my computer since Cleo lost interest in it a couple of days back.

“There,” I say as I gently dump her down, “eat that!”

Cleo sniffs the bone, half heartedly licks it, then walks away, “I’m not that hungry”

I sit back down on the PC to catch up on some more social media notifications and nearby, Cleo sits and stares at me in the same way that started this conversation with a look that says, “I’m hungry”

“You’ve got biscuits outside the back door and a bone right here!  You’re not that hungry!”

With a sulky ‘humph’, Cleo lies down and goes to sleep.
