All those years ago, I see now why mum had a calendar by her bed, and why she looked at it every day. It didn't make sense to me at the time, but it does now.
Because I have to check the date every day for certain facebook responsibilites, I find I remember every day, and the week seems to go longer.
Years ago, when I never checked the date, time flew and the days went by so fast, that there are some days I have absolutely no memory of. I'd literally lose days in a week!
But looking at the calendar seems to slow time down. It can't fly by because you're reigning it on a leash, just by glancing at the date. I no longer lose days.. and I no longer have to ask, "what happened to Wednesday?" or whatever day. It would try to sneak off, but I'd check the calendar and the day would stay put and not slink off.
Waking up the next day now, it's easier to remember what day it is. Now it's me that often misplaces time…"Is today Saturday?" *checks calendar*, no it's Friday. Couple hours later, "today's saturday must remember to… oh no wait.. today's Friday"
Wake up the next day… "oh cool, I'm in Saturday! Thought yesterday was Saturday!"
So now I've learned to check the calendar as a daily habit. That way, I can keep up with time, and keep it reigned it.. time no longer flies, and that's the way I like it.. this way, I have a longer life.
