Tuesday morning

8am

Released Misty from time out.  She was severely punished last night.  I had kept her on the litter for a good hour because I know she needed to go.  Her body was showing signs of badly needing to go to toilet, but because it was a new litter tray (her old one is in the bathroom with the new foster family).

After giving up on her, no sooner I let her alone, she ran into a closet and pooed there, and to make it worse, she had the runs (which I already had guessed from the sounds of her tummy).  I was livid!!  Since I couldn't put her in the bathroom, locked her in the laundry for the night after giving her a bum bath!

Just checked on Virgo and the kits.  She's not eating at the moment, but she may not be hungry until later.  The kittens all apear to have the chill, clearly picked up by their mum, and poor Lucy seems to have the worst of it with a runny nose and sneezing, which, if it wasn't so serious, would look cute, watching a 3.5 day old sneeze.  On the upside, she's the heaviest of the kittens, so hoping she stays strong till I can think of something.

Hope the mail comes soon.

11am

Just weighed kittens.
Jasper = 0.081
Lucy = 0.080
Sylvester = 0.063

Went online to a sight called "Answer Me" and asked a vet online re my concerns regarding sniffles and underweight kitten.  Amongst all the info she gave me was one of the links: Bottle feeding newborn kittens.  Found a recipe there to make up home made formula, so will try this.  I have all the ingredients but the last, but could perhaps supplement the multivitamins with cat milk.  Will try feeding Sylvester this home made formula every 2 hours and hopefully he'll gain some weight.

12pm

Just took mum and kittens out back yard for some sun for extra warmth as there was no breeze.  No easy task.  Placed their bed (with them in it) in a cage, and transported them outside for about 15 minutes.  Seems to do the trick, the babies temporature increased dramatically so they're all sleeping peacefully except for Sylvester was on the teat feeding.  Good for him!  He needs the weight gain.

Back inside, have left mummy and kits alone for some peace and quiet now.

Finally I can continue to worry about my finances and pay my bills, then onto choosing a cat of the day for It's Cool Having a Cat Around page.

8pm

Cat of the day now chosen, furkids all fed here.

Have spoken to a couple more experienced friends of Cat Defence, and they told me not to worry about the kits weight fluctuations, as this is normal, and as long as they're fed, they should be ok.  I'll know if they're hungry, cause they'll scream the house down.

Also, was told not to worry about mummy, when she's hungry enough she will eat, and it's normal to not be able to find the teats on a feline.  Am so relieved now.  All I can do is hope medication arrives now and help Virgo get better so she can get onto caring for her kits.

They all have solid milk bellies, so I won't worry for now.

Now I can have a bit of fun and play some facebook games for a change!

9:30pm

SO happy.  Just now went in to check on Virgo and kits, and she didn't hiss!!  First time she hasn't hissed at me since I took her in on Saturday!

She must have figured if the worse she has to deal with is me force feeding her, then I can't be all that bad

I really hope Lucy sees it through the night.  She's really struggling to breathe.
